LISAP GARDEN: OUR SUSTAINABLE CHOICE

The project for the construction of the Lisap Garden within Lisap production site dates back to 2015. The idea, right from the start, was to create an area that respected the fundamental principle of eco-sustainability and that, why not, would improve the business environment.

The project included an area of about 5000 square meters consisting of an orchard surrounded by a lawn garden. Its realization, however, was anything but simple:

  • A drainage system had to be foreseen to avoid stagnation of water in the harmful for plant elements.
  • The entire surface of the weeds was coated with a natural product and a layer of expanded clay material was used as mulch to protect the roots from thermal changes and to limit the use of chemicals.
  • Of no less importance was the design of the irrigation system for the flower beds consisting of a dripline system where each plant is dedicated to independent irrigation in order to avoid unnecessary waste of water.
  • The entire irrigation system has been connected to a meteorological control unit which, thanks to sensors positioned near the roots of the plants, detects the weather conditions and the humidity present in the soil, establishing when to irrigate and in what quantity. These sensors also evaluate the concentration of dissolved ions and thus of the fertilizer requirements of each individual crop.
  • Even the choice of fertilization products is not left to chance; all fertilizers are in fact soluble in water.
  • In addition, a 1000 square meter tank has been planned for the collection and storage of rainwater which is used for irrigation and the use of drinking water.

All these systems, which at the time of design seemed advanced, today, in 4.0 companies, have become extremely current.

Even in the choice of essences, nothing is left to chance; they were varieties resistant to parasites and with differentiated choice periods in order to guarantee the presence of fruit on the plants for a longer period of time.

Among the essences planted we can include plum trees, apricots, apple trees, peaches, cherries, almonds, medlars, persimmons, hazelnuts, berries, citrus, olive trees and white mulberry. In total there are approximately 500 plants inserted.

Of course, given the spirit of eco-sustainability, the cultivation system is organic. We try to limit the use of plant protection products as much as possible, opting, if necessary, only for those allowed in organic crops. We fight against parasites agronomic operations that enemies the healthiest, or we introduce useful insects that use the proliferation of those plants and use fungi that the settlement of harmful making the plant less vulnerable to diseases.
